Tourism

The coastal area around Budva, called Budvanska rivijera, is the centre of Montenegro's tourism, and is well known for its sandy beaches, nightlife, and beautiful examples of Mediterranean architecture. The large amount of beaches makes Budva a popular destination for tourists. The Budva coast is 21 km long with 17 beaches. Budva is also rich in historic monuments. The Old town lies on a small peninsula and represents a treasure chest of culture heritage. In the near vicinity of the town of Budva there are exclusive resorts such as town-hotel Sveti Stefan and Miločer, places frequented by various celebrities as well as local businessmen and politicians.

Weather

Budva has a typical Mediterranean climate - with warm summers and mild winters. With 230 sunny days in a year Budva comes among the warmest Mediterranean towns with an average temperature of 8°C in January and 27,9°C in July. The average summertime temperature is 23,1°C and 9,3°C in the winter. The temperature of the sea reaches up to 24,7°C in the summer months.

Transport

By car - Budva is connected to inland Montenegro by two-laned highways. There are two ways to reach Budva from Podgorica (60 km away) - through Cetinje or through the Sozina tunnel. Budva is also connected to the rest of coastal towns of Montenegro by the Adriatic Highway, which extends from Ulcinj in the far south to Herceg Novi in the north.

By air - Tivat Airport is 20 km away. There are regular flights to Belgrade and Zurich, and charter planes land daily on Tivat airport during the summer season. Podgorica Airport is 65 km away, and it has regular flights to Belgrade and other European destinations throughout the year.

Lastva festivities - Lastovo, Tivat
Lastva festivities - Lastovo, Tivat This is a manifestation which is traditionally held in August in the place Gornja Lastva (Upper Lastva), close to Tivat. The organizers of Lastva festivities are culturally tourist and hometown association Napredak (Progress) and Tivat's center for culture. On the first Saturday of August the main fiesta of Lastva festivities is being held. The fiesta is made of: artistic programs, dance circle of Boka Navy accompanied with Music educational association Tivat. Numerous domestic and foreign guests,, and citizens of Tivat who visit this manifestation, enjoy in listening of original Lastva songs, as well as in the traditional dances better kown as Lastva and Skaljar folk round dance. The dinners in the mill dedicated to clapper music songs, traditional way of singing that is present in Boka Kotorska is one of the most beautiful moments of the fiesta.
